The May Coffee Morning was enjoyed at the lovely home of our hostess Linda P. We were inspired to love nature by the Venezuelan born artist Federico Moros. Mr. Moros exhibited his artwork and spoke about his art and his inspiration. His paintings of the Venezuelan jungle and tropical flowers were vivid and layered with detail. He takes his inspiration from visits to Guatopo National Park, a rainforest outside of Caracas known for its exuberant vegetation and its varied animal life. There he would study the affect of the light, humidity and rain on the trees and flowers, taking mental images and notes. His art is his legacy to his children and documents the rainforest which may not exist for his grandchildren's time. His tropical jungle scenes, exotic flowers, bromeliads inspired some BIG members to take home their own piece of Venezuelan nature.
