November Coffee Morning
Norma Johnson very kindly opened her beautiful home to members and friends of B.I.G. for the November coffee morning.
Our speaker was Linda Sonderman from Alpi Tours. She gave us a very interesting talk about traveling in Venezuela.
The Amazon with its massive tepuis and the impressive Cerro Autana, a sacred mountain to the Piaroa Indians. Sparkling rivers, intense tropical rain forest and traditional Indian communities.
A visit to Canaima is a must, with Angel Falls, the world´s highest waterfall. These falls were discovered by American adventurer Jimmy Angel when his plane crashed the summit of Auyantepui, one of the largest of the 114 magnificent table top mountains that rise majestically from this elevated plateau. A trip can be combined with a visit to Indian communities such us Pemon, Yekuanas or Yanomami Indians.
Another interesting area to visit is Los Llanos, the vast plains. Guest ranches such as Hato Cedral, Hato Piñero provide the chance to see abundant wildlife, especially flocks of multicolored birds.
Another interesting region to visit is The Andes. The Paramo has a wonder and mystery of its own.
It is worthwhile visiting The Los Roques archipelago, a fascinating place. This archipelago is one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean. Crystal clear waters with a varied range of blue tonalities, white sand beaches and coastal reefs make this place unique.
Everyone was captured by the interesting facts about Venezuela, and tempted to go traveling!
We had a very pleasant morning at Norma's house, and are looking forward to the next coffee morning which is a special one! We will have a Mini Christmas Bazaar, with a lot of handmade items (including cookies, marmalades etc.) from our Craft group. Of course there will be other vendors as well with things to buy for the holidays!
Hope to see you all again!
